Today, most of the digital services providers are volume-oriented. Turmic Records has a different approach to help artists reaching their goals. Our strategy is based on a real understanding of the music industry, on close relationships with our artists, but also with the key players on the market.

By choosing us as your digital distributor, not only will get first-class treatment, but you will have a record company standing behind you once things start to move for you. More importantly, we will be able to put you in touch with the right people when the time comes.

After being accepted, our artists send their single, E.P. or album to us. We then professionally encode and deliver their music to digital download services all over the world; including iTunes, e-music, Spotify, Napster...

We have different deals for different artists/bands depending on their stage of development. Our standard offer is a 70/30 split of any income in the artist's favor.

There is an administrative fee of EUR70.00 for the first master and EUR35.00 for each following master.

It is important to know that we don't offer distribution to artists/bands that we don't believe are commercially viable or have not made acceptable recordings of their music. That's why we have the artists/bands send us an MP3 before deciding whether or not we will license their music. Our basic criterion is that we will take in any band that we believe will profit from our relationship. We want a win/win. So, just because we're inclusive doesn't mean that we're not discerning.

Important to our philosophy, we are not gatekeepers; we are providers, and we would rather play the role of encourager rather than referee.

This is the positive approach that we know will create a win/win for everyone.

To begin the process, start here.

Another factor that most artists don't figure in is success. What happens when success starts to kick in? It might be a year before an artist actually sees any money once they start getting respectable radio play, so while the artist achieves success, they won't be able to do anything about it. So even if other distributors will tell an artist to worry about that when the time comes, we think it's better to plan for success.

Naturally we can't promote all the bands we have all the time. BUT if things start to happen for an artist, then they have someone to contact and let them know. Try doing that directly with the large sites we deliver to or other digital services providers. We have contact with the programmers of these sites on a daily basis and run promotions every day, so even if we can't guarantee a blinking banner on the front page of iTunes, you at least have someone to get a hold of when it's time to push your hit single.

But you should know that you are still responsible for marketing your act. It is not the job of a distributor to create demand for their product. You still need to head up that front.

With a steady base of hundreds of talented artists of all nationalities and all genres from all over the world, Turmic Records has built up its reputation for being a musician's label. We're certainly not perfect, but we strive to be that one record company that actually listens to their artists' opinions, rather than being a faceless multi-national conglomerate.
